Just Sayin'?

Is this officially a meme? It seems like every other facebook post I see now has someone's casual observance, ending in the now popular post script "...just sayin'" with various scatological tenses and punctuation used.

The first time I ever saw this occurrence was in posts on ESPN by fantasy sports writer Matthew Berry, who used it to good effect and which I thought was somewhat clever.

Now it seems everyone is using it to punctuate their thought of the day.

If we really want to trace it back to a variation of its usage, in a much more relevant literary iteration, let us visit with our good fried William Carlos Williams:

THIS IS JUST TO SAY

I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox

and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast

Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold.

That's how it's done I believe. Just saying.
